- Who is this service for?
- This service is designed with the car traveler in mind. We are able to provide you forecasts for locations along your trip by estimating what your location will be at specific times, as well as provide you with detailed directions. Rather than providing you a forecast for an entire day for a given location, we actually determine what the conditions are likely to be at a given location at the time you will be passing through on your trip.
- How are you different from other sites that map directions:
- We differ from other companies because we do not just provide directions, but weather conditions along that route.
- We calculate where you will be at a certain time and provide the forecasted conditions at that time. This information is based on the speed limit for a given road which makes our forecast even more accurate than other road services you might find on the web.
- Our service also provides weather maps, giving you an overview of what's happening across the nation, as well as area forecasts for any given location within the contiguous United States.
- WiperWeather uniquely combines your intended route with weather information in addition to allowing you change your departure time so that you can choose to leave earlier/later based upon the weather.
- How do I use this page?
- Enter your:
- Departure address or intersection
- Departure Time
- Arrival address or intersections
- Click the button "Get your Map"
- You will be presented with a route and a forecast for the weather along your trip.
- Place your mouse pointer over the weather icons on the map to get more detailed information about the conditions at that location.
- What if I do not know the street address?
- You can plan a trip based on the nearest intersection, typing in the cross roads
- Or you can plan a trip based on the city.
- If you plan a trip based on the city, WiperWeather will automatically default to the city center. This location may be somewhat different from your intended location.
- How do I create my account for MY PAGE?
- Click on the MY PAGE tab at the top of this page.
- Click on the "Click Here" button to sign up for a new account.
- Fill out the required data and click submit.
- Once your account has been created you can start uploading your pictures and your trip reviews.
- Do I need to pay anything for your service?
- NO! WiperWeather is free to the public.
- What other services do you provide?
- Currently our free services are limited to the services provided on this website. If you have other requirements please feel free to contact us.
- Should I base my trip solely on your data?
- A good forecaster always knows to check multiple sources. We are but one source for your planning purposes. Please view our Terms and Agreements page for additional information.
- Are you available internationally?
- At this time our service is limited to the contiguous United States, but we will be expanding our services in the near future. If you require weather information for any other location please feel free to contact us to discuss your needs.
- Why does my weather only show up at certain times? Why does it get more sparse at later dates?
- The temporal resolution of our forecasts (the number of hours between forecast times) is every 3 hours out to 72 hours, then every 6 hours out to 120 hours. We currently do not offer any forecasts on the website for dates exceeding 120 hours (5 days) from the present time.
- Why is no weather showing up for my departure?
- If your departure date/time is beyond 72 hours, weather data will only be provided every 6 hours. If your departure time falls more than 1 hour before or after a 6 hour forecast interval, no weather data will be provided. Weather can change drastically within 6 hours, so WiperWeather does not provide any data in lieu of inaccurate data.
- Try adjusting your departure time by an hour and see if you get weather data or put in a weather date/time within 72 hours from present time.
- How come my WiperTrip pictures did not show up?
- Your pictures might have contained content that was not in keeping within the Terms and Agreements required to post pictures.
- Your images might have also exceed our limit of 5 pictures per trip or our size limitations.
- My image is larger than 3megs how can I upload it?
- Converting your picture to a more compressed image file format such as GIF or JPG may help. You could also try reducing the dimensions (height and width) of your image.
- I lost my password or username, how can I retrieve it?
- Contact WiperWeather and we will send it to your email that you have on file with us.
- Are cookies required?
- If you want to access MyPage or WiperTrips then yes they are required, however to access the main page, cookies are not required.
- Why is no weather showing up for my trip?
- Check your start date – if it is more than 120 hours from present time, then we do not provide weather data beyond that point.
- When I go to WiperTrips, how is the first trip displayed picked?
